How are DrSmile prices determined?

DrSmile communicates its prices very transparently, so you don’t have to worry about hidden costs.

Treatment always begins with a non-binding consultation appointment. This one is completely free for you. There are no costs until you explicitly decide for the treatment.

During this initial appointment, a treatment plan will be created at the partner practice of your choice. This will determine exactly how much you will have to pay for your dental correction.

Your malocclusion is classified as mild, moderate or severe. The classification is based on the total number of aligners required for the treatment and must be fabricated individually accordingly.

A higher rating may also be possible if the tooth correction is particularly complicated or IPR is necessary.

The latter is an interproximal enamel reduction (also called approximal enamel reduction), which creates space for the teeth to move and may be required one or more times during treatment.

DrSmile costs at a glance: What do the aligners cost?

As a rule, DrSmile prices range from 1790 euros to 3190 euros. Only in very rare cases the price can exceed this range.

However, if this is the case for you, you will be explicitly informed about this before the start of the treatment. You can then decide whether you still want to start the dental correction or whether you would rather do without it.

DrSmile treatment can be paid either once or in installments. DrSmile prices for light cases are 1790 euros, for medium cases 2890 euros and for complex cases 3990 euros.

The amount of the installments depends on your desired payment model. DrSmile costs here start at 33 euros for mild, 53 euros for moderate and 74 euros for complex malocclusions.

Here you can see an overview of the three price levels:

DrSmile prices: Payment in installments is always possible

After you have confirmed your treatment plan, you will receive the invoice for the treatment after approximately seven days.

You will then have 30 days to decide how you want to pay. You will save the most if you pay the DrSmile costs completely in one go.

But if that’s too much for you, you can also opt to pay in installments. In the case of slight malpositions, the monthly installments already start at 33 euros.

You can also choose the period in which you would like to make the payment – up to 72 months are possible.

After treatment: How much do DrSmile retainers cost?

If you are not one hundred percent satisfied with the result after the treatment, the first refinement is free of charge. However, it is a prerequisite that you have followed all treatment recommendations.

To stabilize the teeth after correction, a retainer must be worn for some time. Here you can decide whether you prefer to wear retainer splints or a fixed retainer.

Dr Smile prices for retainer splints are 99 euros per jaw. The splints can be easily reordered in the DrSmile Shop.

The fixed retainer is inserted by the dentist or orthodontist. A permanent retainer in the upper or lower jaw costs 29 euros per month or 350 euros one time. The permanent retainer for both pines is available for 41 euros per month or a one-time fee of 490 euros.

You can find more information about DrSmile retainers here.

Does the health insurance cover the Dr Smile costs?

Unfortunately, both public and private health insurance companies do not usually cover the costs of Dr Smile aligner.

In general, the statutory health insurance companies do not cover the costs of orthodontic treatment for adults.

Private health insurance companies will only pay if there is a medical indication. For example, when severe tooth or jaw misalignments lead to pain or health problems.

However, DrSmile treatment is an aesthetic treatment that only corrects the front teeth.
