Who is actually behind Smilelign?

First things first: According to the official website, there are currently no Smilelign partner practices in Germany (yet).

In concrete terms, this means that the treatment is currently not available in Germany.

As soon as there is news, we will inform you here. Until then, we would still like to provide you with some information about the company here.

Smilelign Limited is a company founded in 2012 and based in the UK.

The company specializes in the production and sale of invisible braces, also known as aligners.

The innovative technology is an attractive alternative to conventional braces and aims to straighten teeth and perfect clients’ smiles without compromising aesthetics or comfort during treatment.

Founded with the vision of offering state-of-the-art teeth straightening solutions, Smilelign has quickly made a name for itself in the aligner market thanks to its high-quality products.

Basically, however, there is much less information about Smilelign on the Internet than about competitors such as DrSmile.

The aligner provider is also much less represented on social media and YouTube.

We do not yet know whether treatment with Smilelign will be available in Germany in the near future.

Smilelign aligners are currently primarily available in the UK.

There are also a few providers in Ireland, Denmark, Croatia and some other European countries. A single partner practice is based in Switzerland.

If you are currently looking for an aligner provider, we recommend DrSmile as an alternative.

DrSmile has already produced more than one million aligners and can look back on over 150,000 completed tooth corrections.

The company’s invisible aligners are already available in over 100 partner practices across Germany.

You can find more information about DrSmile here.

How does tooth correction with Smilelign work?

Aligners, often referred to as invisible braces, are a modern alternative to traditional braces.

They consist of a series of clear, fixed plastic trays that are custom-made to gradually move the teeth into the desired position.

Each aligner is individually manufactured according to a precise treatment plan based on 3D scans or impressions of the dentition.

The way aligners work is relatively simple but effective: they exert continuous, light pressure on specific teeth.

This pressure causes the teeth to move slowly. Approximately every two weeks, the aligner is replaced with a new one, which moves the teeth further in the desired direction.

This process is continued until the teeth have reached their optimum position.

The special thing about Smilelign is that the entire process is accompanied by regular visits to the orthodontist or dentist.

With most other aligner providers, on the other hand, face-to-face appointments in the practice are not mandatory and are only scheduled on request or if necessary.

And this is how tooth correction at Smilelign actually works:

1. initial consultation

The first step is a consultation with a certified dentist or orthodontist who cooperates with Smilelign.

During this appointment, your teeth will be examined and it will be discussed whether Smilelign is the right solution for your individual malocclusion.

The experts will inform you about the treatment procedure, the approximate costs and the expected results.

2. precise impression taking and planning

If the treatment is suitable for you, the next step is to take impressions of your teeth.

Modern practices use digital scanning technology to create precise 3D models of your teeth.

Smilelign uses these models to develop an individual treatment plan that shows exactly how your teeth will shift step by step.

The treatment plan also contains a detailed list of the costs you will incur.

The dentist or orthodontist will also receive a pre-aligner from Smilelign, which you can try on and off in the practice.

Now you can make a final decision for or against treatment with Smilelign aligners.

If you want to have your teeth corrected, a contract is concluded and the dentist or orthodontist orders your aligners.

3. fabrication of the aligners

Your individual aligners are made based on the treatment plan.

Each set of aligners is designed to gradually move the teeth into the desired position.

You will receive several sets of aligners, which you will wear in a specific order during the course of treatment.

4. wearing the Smilelign aligners

As soon as the aligners are ready, start wearing the first set.

The aligners should be worn for at least 22 hours a day to achieve the best results.

You should only take them out to eat, drink and for dental care. As a rule, the aligners are changed every two weeks.

5. regular check-up appointments

During the treatment you will need to attend regular check-ups with your dentist or orthodontist.

These appointments are used to monitor progress and ensure that treatment is proceeding as planned.

You will also receive your other aligner sets at the face-to-face appointments.

6. completion of treatment and retention

Once you have worn all the aligner sets and your teeth have reached the desired position, the active phase of treatment is complete.

Your dentist or orthodontist will assess the new tooth position and decide whether additional adjustments are necessary.

To ensure long-term results, it is important to start retention immediately after tooth correction.

So-called retainer splints prevent the teeth from moving back into their original position.

How much do Smilelign aligners cost?

If you’ve already taken a look at the Smilelign homepage, you’ve probably noticed that the company communicates its prices much less transparently than competitors such as DrSmile.

The information is very vague and concrete prices are actually not mentioned at all. However, this in no way means that Smilelign is a dubious company.

Instead, pricing is simply much more individualized than with other providers and is set differently by the various partner practices.

The Smilelign costs are based on the following factors:

  • the severity of the malocclusion
  • the duration of treatment and the associated number of splints required
  • the type of correction desired
  • the individual fee of the dentist or orthodontist

As soon as a treatment plan has been drawn up during your initial appointment, you will also be informed of the final price for your dental correction.

Only when you decide for the treatment and sign the contract, costs are incurred. Of course, you can also reject them if you think the Smilelign prices are too high.

Important to know: Unfortunately, the costs of correcting teeth in adults are not usually covered by health insurance.

However, we still recommend that you do not focus exclusively on price when choosing an aligner provider.

Instead, rely primarily on authentic reviews and research lots of testimonials on the Internet.

Who are Smilelign aligners suitable for?

Smilelign aligners are ideal for the treatment of mild to moderate malocclusions.

However, invisible braces can reach their limits with complicated malocclusions – such as severe overbite, underbite, crossbite or other types of malocclusion.

Incidentally, this applies to most aligner providers, including Smile Direct Club, Inman Aligner, Bestsmile, Harmonieschiene, Smileunion, Six Month Smiles, Braceless, Impress Aligner, LetSmile, NewSmile and PlusDental.

Currently, only Invisalign products or, alternatively, traditional braces can be considered for serious tooth corrections.

Conclusion on Smilelign: Does the product deliver what it promises?

Even if only a few authentic reviews of Smilelign can be found on forums and social media, it is clear that discreet tooth correction is definitely possible with the company’s aligners.

In the case of Smilelign, however, the question does not currently arise because, as already mentioned, the aligners are not yet available in Germany.

For this reason, the established provider DrSmile remains our recommendation for your teeth correction. There is a wealth of experience on the Internet – and the price structure is transparent.

The company also offers not only a good price-performance ratio but also a satisfaction guarantee in case you are not one hundred percent happy with the result.
