Update No. 2 on my teeth correction with DrSmile

My teeth correction with DrSmile has now been running for 5 weeks. Here you can find my second update around the topics of pain, everyday life, cleaning, wearing and much more.

Hello dear ones. I’m Franzi, online editor and co-founder of About That Smile.

If you’ve seen a few of my videos, you probably know that I’m in the middle of straightening my teeth with DrSmile aligners.

I need a total of 10 pairs of aligners for my treatment and have now reached the third pair – the next change is due in 8 days.

Today I would like to give you a second little update on my treatment progress.

Wearing continues to work very well for me. I have become totally accustomed to the aligners and often I even completely forget that I have them in my mouth.

I have become so proficient at inserting and removing them that I can do it in seconds, for example, in a restaurant on the toilet.

I pretty much always have my aligner tin and a little mouthwash with me.

However, if I forget the equipment or spontaneously want to eat something somewhere, I sometimes wrap them in some tissues, then rinse my mouth thoroughly and put them back in.

What bothers me about the aligners?

One small thing still bothers me a bit: When I take the aligners out during the day and put them back in, my mouth feels extremely dry again.

This passes after a while. But it’s still uncomfortable for me, because then I’m mumbling a bit again for an hour or two.

But that is currently the only “little problem” I have with the treatment. However, I still have a few months of treatment ahead of me, so I hope that this will also settle down.

Is wearing the aligners painful?

I still have no pain – I am really relieved about that.

When I put in my third pair of aligners, I felt more pressure again for the first two days.

Nevertheless, I was able to remove and insert the rails without any problem. For they are tight, but with a little practice, it is easy to cope.

Are there already first successes with the aligner treatment?

Slowly, the first successes are actually beginning to show.

I recently compared my first splint with the current one (the third one) and you can definitely see that the tooth has already rotated a bit.

Especially in the morning, when the aligners have been in my mouth for many hours at a stretch, I can already see a visual difference.

By the way, it’s not just my crooked upper front tooth that’s turning. Even the not-so-perfect lower front teeth already look a bit more even.

What you should definitely know before your treatment with aligners

What you should know before or during your treatment with aligners is that the teeth do not sit as firmly in the jaw during treatment as they do before or after the retention phase. .

This sometimes feels really strange, but it’s no reason to panic. Because clearly, in order to rotate, the teeth must first loosen a bit.

However, you should definitely contact the support when you can easily move the teeth with your finger.

My provider DrSmile will then decide if you need to make an appointment with the partner dentist. I think that the procedure is the same for other aligner providers.

My second conclusion on the course of treatment

My conclusion about the aligner therapy with DrSmile remains very positive and I am curious to see what happens next.

I must have looked at my 3D simulation 20 times already and I can’t wait to finally see the final result.

I’ll definitely keep you posted and post the next update on my treatment soon.
